Cream & Sugar - 2014.03.05 & 2014.03.12

Cream & Sugar is the report of what happened at that week's Coffee Talk event.  On the 3rd Wednesdays, Board Member Sayer Johnson debriefs the group with what happened at the latest board meeting and solicits feedback from members of the community (especially, but not exclusively, active volunteers) regarding concerns which they have about The Center.

Blissful Vapors and Hartford Coffee Company provided the power behind our 3rd (March 5, 2014) and 4th (March 12, 2014) weekly gatherings, respectively.  We appreciate their support!  In addition, Kathryn P. brought in specially-designed treats (Monkey Bars) to share.  Thanks, Kathryn.

We continued discussing items already mentioned in the previous Cream & Sugar article.  The idea concerning rotating our meetings and, perhaps, even changing the meeting times will not be workable due to scheduling conflict.

We connected a requestor of a service (Creative Writing for the LGBTQI community) with a volunteer who has stepped up to co-ordinate such a group.  Both the requestor and the facilitator joined us for coffee.  In addition to these 2, several others have expressed interest in such an event.  For others who are interested in this effort, keep your eyes tuned to our calendar.

We continue working on a plan for an Executive Team... once draft is done, we'll continue the discussion -- and the fine-tuning of our vision.
We agreed that we should make a presentation to The Center's B.O.D. to assure that communications between the group and the Board is bidirectional.  (Sayer is representing the B.O.D. at the group meetings on the 3rd Wednesdays; so we have top-down communications.  By presenting a summary of our discussions to the Board, we are completing the loop -- i.e., bottom-up communications -- in effect creating a bi-directional communications channel.)

Our turnout continues to be strong and "have fun" is a phrase that, for me at least, has been restored to my involvement with this community.
